St. John’s House Music Hall – Full House

We had standing room only at last week’s Music Hall which took place in the lounge at St. John’s House. The room was packed full with Choir Members, Residents, Staff and Friends, dressed in their finery, all ready for a good evening’s entertainment.

They were most certainly not disappointed. Our first ever Music Hall was a fantastic success, with a fine selection of Music Hall songs, which took us all back down memory lane, and some wonderful monologues, eloquently delivered by our Master of Ceremonies Mr Geoff Wood, who enthralled us with his many voices and disguises as he recounted two old favourites, “Albert and the Lion” and “The Day War Broke Out.”

But the biggest cheers of the evening were definitely saved for St. John’s House choir members and residents Syd Shorter and Molly Arnold-Foster who overcame their nerves to sing their respective solos “It’s A Long Way To Tipperary” and “The White Cliffs of Dover” like seasoned professionals. There was not a dry eye in the house.

There is no doubt that special mention must also go to St. John’s House staff, Manager Andrea Marks and Care Assistant Tom Head who bravely “volunteered” to dress up and take part in the event, both contributing excellent performances respectively with “Don’t Dilly Dally On The Way” and “On Mother Kelly’s Doorstep.”

At the end of the evening the main question on everyone’s lips was “When are we going to do it all again?”
